GIRL CRUSH.

I don't often crush on the ladies, and when I do it's completely platonic by the way (sorry fellas with your minds in the gutter), but when I do - I crush hard. I become transfixed by their authenticity, their confidence, their kindness or their prowess. And, unlike other crushes that lead to 'flirt', that lead to 'like', that lead to 'love' - Emily style girl crushes always boil down to the same thing ...

i want to learn more of what you're about. and i want to be your friend.

Who makes my crushing list at le momente?

Found here

Ellen Degeneres - A perhaps 'controversial' first choice as my latest girl crush but there's just something about Ellen. I love her quirkiness and when we meet (which I am oh so sure one day we will) I will poke and prod her to do Dory impressions until she cracks. Her advocacy and passion for animal rights and humanitarian work is just awe inspiring. She is one beautiful lady who has inspired a generation to 'live kindly'. Defs crush worthy.

Found here

+ Jennifer Lawrence - she oozes goofiness and confidence and 'don't give a shit' attitude that won my heart over from her first interview. She is absolutely stunning, hilarious and a brilliant actress to boot. Welcome Jen - and get cosy next to Emma Stone as my favourite goofball (but oh so talented) hollywood actresses.

Found here

+ Marie Forleo - if J Law was a 'crush' then this lady is my long term mistress. I came across Marie and her incredible ways about 12 months ago and was hooked. I quickly devoured every post she had ever written and every video blog she had ever posted. She has got that somethin' somethin'. She is incredibly gifted and an inspirational new age thinker - she is able to eloquently and accessibly talk about issues of spirituality, business, health and writing. She serves up a weekly dose of life enriching knowledge via her youtube channel erry Wednesday. Get acquainted. Stat.

Found here
+ Danielle Laporte - Her writing is so very powerful and I literally can't soak up all her knowledge fast enough. This diva flipped conventional goal setting strategies on their head and has made it her mission to share and promote the importance of establishing our core desired feelings when it comes to our inspirational endeavours. Her most recent book - The Desire Map - is an incredible tool and is broken into a beautifully written narrative on Danielle's goal setting philosophy and a 'workbook' that allows its readers to practice exactly was LaPorte is preachin'. All of you ambitious son of a guns, get involved.

Found here

+ Kristen Wiig - If I could subscribe to her one woman show and all her crazy characters - I would be all over that in a heartbeat. My favourite Wiigy characters have been Forehead Lady on the Lawrence Welk show; Sexy Shauna and Target Lady. By far one of the funniest ladies on the planet. I love her!

Blessings and way too many unsettling girl crushes later x

LIFE LESSONS FROM ISABELLA - My 20 month old Rottweiler.

These are things that I have observed and learned from my giant puppy. She didn't exactly 'tell' me all this but she shows me everyday. Hope you enjoy the wisdom of my yoda like pooch.

+ Exercise everyday, otherwise you'll get grumpy.
+ Be happy ('lose your shiz' kind of happy) when you see the people you love.
+ Appreciate and get excited over every meal.
+ Do what makes you happy.
+ Unless it gets you in trouble and tied to a pole. Then don't do it so much.
+ Always stop and smell the roses.
+ If the sun is out, lay on the grass and stretch your body out as long as it can go.
+ Say hello to everyone and everything you meet.
+ As soon as you feel like you need the toilet, go. (But as a human, walk to the loo first. Then go).
+ Bark if someone threatens your loved ones. But don't hurt them. Just let them know how tough you are.
+ If someone wants to cuddle you, let them.
+ When outside, follow the path of a butterfly, snail or ant, inquisitively but not to disturb them.
+ Tilt your head and let people know if something confuses you or you don't understand.
+ Be happy with the simple things in life. Like a long walk and a belly rub.
+ Be in the now. Every day is a brand new day and you never need dwell on issues of the past or future.
+ Look longingly at loved ones when they leave. To show you care.
+ Be cute 24/7 by just being you. No make up. No fancy clothes. Just a big ole smile and happy soul.
+ Love with all your heart.
+ Play everyday.

Blessings and sloppy rottweiler kisses from Iz and I x

NUGGETS O' WISDOM FROM ROBERT HOLDEN'S "AUTHENTIC SUCCESS" - The Visionary Edition

You know those books that, once you read them, you’re left transformed? Whether it has modified a certain way of thinking, it’s inspired you to pursue a dream or interest, has made you laugh out loud and has changed your energy and demeanour for the next x amount of weeks or in whatever way, big or small. Well, that happened. I unknowingly picked up a book, at my gorgeous little local store, merely thinking ‘that looks interesting’ and off I went. Over the next few weeks, errynight, I immersed myself in the incredible words of Mr Holden.

Title: Authentic Success
Author: Robert Holden (Director of Success Intelligence and Happiness Project).
In a Nutshell: Redefining what we consider to be ‘successful’ living. Infused with soulful and inspiring tidbits, incredible case studies and nuggets of wisdom.

Because this book is oh-so-incredible and wise, I am breaking it down into bite sized chunks so as to ensure you read, reflect and remember the beautiful pieces of soulful wisdom. As I read, I highlighted those quotes and pieces of information that leapt of the page, and I inadvertently created a perfect, transformative little collection o' words. Each chapter brought with in a whole new bombardment of insightful thoughts into 'success' and how we perceive and achieve it. So, without further ado, I'm going to kick off our successful journey and dive right into the first chapter of 'Vision'...

Vision

Image found here

+ Stopping is a way to connect again to your vision, wisdom and purpose
+ It is an age old habit of human beings to run faster when we have lost our way
+ Heal the culture of death by overwork; death of creativity; death of talent; death of fresh ideas
+ More heart in your business/work/life
+ Your goal is not to maximise productivity, it's to be more valuable
+ A model of success is need - a model that knows that success is primarily a way of being, not just a shopping list.
+ At school, I was taught lots of facts and how to pass a test, but not how to create vision, discover a purpose and lead a successful life
+ Permanent busyness blocks vision. Leaders are not meant to be permanently busy. Leaders are the custodians of vision
+ It is only when we let go of our busyness that vision returns, inspiration appears and a new level of true success is available
+ Busyness is what you give your time to, a purpose is what you give your heart to

"Where there is no vision, people perish"
Proverbs 29:18

Blessings from my eclectic and overlapping vision board x

WHAT I AM UP TO...

Found here

You may have noticed that this little bloggeroo has been a little MIA lately. I really hate the word 'busy' and I have a bit of a vendetta against it BUT I adore being immersed in inspiring reads; writing and creating; entrepreuring; ambitiously setting goals left, right and centre; and following opportunities wherever they might arise. So yes, for lack of a better word, this girl is busy.

I have started, and have come to a subsequent screeching halt, my thermie review and I don't want to share it until it's right and I have done the incredible machine justice. So just hold tight. It's on its way and will definitely be out to you all, and cloggin' up yo cyber space screens, within the next fortnight.

So would you like to take a peak into my life and see what has got me 'oh so flustered' and my heart and mind all aflutter?

+ Anniversary shennanigans with the boy. 6 years deserves a commemorative lunch. And a dinner. And a breakfast. Right?
+ Commencing my health coaching studies. Egad! It's begun! And so far I am absolutely loving it. Everything seems so universally timed and so very much aligned. I very much feel 'right place, right time' about everything in my life.
+ I have been revisiting and falling deeper in love with this ole gem. The Lifestyle Transformation Guide. Sigh. You may remember my review at the beginning of the year? Such an incredibly profound resource that keeps on giving and, no matter how many times I revisit it, I keep taking away greater and more amazing nuggets of wisdom. I have been getting a little lost in its infinite abundance of late.
+ Building up my private practice and branching into new and exciting areas. Oh and ...
+ Resigning from my government position. Eek. I am totally, completely and legitly (Yes it's a word. It's my word) my own boss now. Freakin' scary from a financial standpoint but I know, now that I have leapt, the universe will catch me.
+ Winning netball semi-finals. No biggie. (Note the sarcasm, this is a BIG biggie).
+ Watching my boys rise to success and gear up to be the next 2013 AFL Premiers. Oh yeah.
+ Cooking, cleaning and other habits of domesticated bliss.
+ Supporting, loving and cheering on my nutritional cleansing coachees. They're doing incredible things and I'm so proud.
+ Reading and journalling when I get a chance.

That just about sums it up. The days are becoming deliciously full and I am by no means complaining but I am apologising, and giving the heads up, that my check ins and posts may become a little sparse. It's because I truly am working on creating bigger and better things so that I can better reach you and provide you with EXACTLY what you're after.

All my love, blessings and big ole smiles (and a splash o' busyness) x

SHARE THE LOVE

You know when you are introduced to someone and you instantly connect with them and you feel like you share near identical views, attitudes and goals for ev-er-y-thing. Well that's what happened when I was connected with Anna Oglvie, a Perth blogger and self proclaimed life enthusiast who has journaled, blogged and chronicled her life for the past three years on her incredible blog Life's Shiny Pretty Things. Anna has some BIG projects on the horizon, and is set to launch these babies very shortly. So keep yo' eyes peeled. During her recent trip to Vegas and in light of her absence on the blog scene for those few weeks, Anna asked me to feature as a guest blogger on her site. I tried to play it cool and responded with a casual 'oh yeah, that would be nice' but inside I was doing a little Gangnam dance. I was so honoured that she would choose to share my words, thoughts and knowledge on her humble little space and I am even more honoured to share this post with you and direct you to her gorgeous site

This post is so important to me. It came to be rather spontaneously and unexpectedly, as all great inspirations do, and the words simply poured out. The most important part of this post is my dedication - for my beautiful mother - to chase her dreams, celebrate her talents and above all believe in herself and the incredible things she is capable of.

Blessings from my overwhelmed, grateful and humble self x

I WANT YOU - The Life Changing Hump Day Edition

Image found here

This image, in all it's glorious simplicity and modern tweaks, perfectly depicts where I am at right now. I'm looking at you, I'm strong and sure, I'm wearing a festive-as-fug hat and I sincerely want YOU to live your BEST life. Whatever that may mean for you. If that means a better job - I want that for you; better health - I want that for you; better relationships (friendship and romantic) - I want that for you; better income - I want that for you; better career - I want that for you; more energy - I want that for you; more gratitude and happiness - I want that for you. Believe it or not, the universe is abundant and infinite. If you get crystal clear on what you want, it delivers. But you need to get so dang clear on what it is that you want to come about, why you want it to come about and when you want it to come about. A beautiful friend of mine gave me the analogy of the universe being like the ocean, we can go to the ocean with a thimble and extract a tiny amount of water; we can go to it with a bucket and get a little more; we can go to it with a GIANT mother flippin' hose and likely won't even see a dent in water levels. The universe can't give us what we don't ask for and what we're not ready or prepared to receive. True story.

So what brings me to the blog today... Well I've been getting so clear on what it is I want, what goals and aspirations and scary big dreams I have ahead of me and where I want them to take me and why I want to get there. I have spent the past two weeks soul searching harder and further than I EVER have before. As a result, I am FEELING better than I ever have before. Physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually - I am literally buzzing every day with anticipation and excitement and momentum when I think about what the future holds. But I needn't even think forward to the future because at the moment, my present is so dang good. Sure there are things that I would love to bring about, and I will, but my entire life right now is a direct result of how I have designed it and I take FULL responsibility for what's around me. And it's amazing. I have so many things to be grateful for that my gratitude lists are honestly getting ridiculous.

Part of my journey to get where I am today is by finding my 'tribe'. I am so so fortunate that my friends and family have ALWAYS supported me no end and they stand absolutely 110% behind everything that I do. But part of getting to where I am now is also through my connecting with people, all around the world, who have the same passions, values, direction, beliefs and energy as me. These women (I always seem to have incredibly strong women in my life and not so many fellas. Come at me boys!!*) have fanned the flames and kept my passion burning bright. Finding people that love and support you. Whether you, like me, were blessed with an army of angels around you from the time you were born (looking at you family and my girls) or whether you've discovered your tribe later in life OR whether you're yet to discover them. They're out there. Trust me they are. And they're the ones who will get you from where you are to where you want to be.

A HUGE and recent change in my life is the people I have met through Isagenix, the nutritional cleansing company that I connected with a few months back and have not let go of! The people I have met in my journey to 'wellness' - who share similar goals, values and overall enthusiasm for life and all its incredible possibilities - are the most powerful and instrumental people I have ever come across. They are changing lives, building a better tomorrow and smashing their goals, left right and centre.

I want YOU to have that. I want you to find your tribe and start your journey to your BEST life. I am looking for people to join my team - who are motivated, passionate and driven and who ultimately want to build a kind, well and FREE life for themselves. I want financial freedom and physical freedom to be the 'norm'. I want us to stop living our lives the way that we've been programmed to and instead break the mould and live life YOUR way.

I have told the universe that I will be living in a beautiful big old house on Yallingup hill with ocean views and a beautiful, inviting open floor plan by the time I am 30; I will create a life that allows me to travel and not be limited by financial or physical restraints; I will be perfectly aligned in mind, body and spirit so that everything I work for and achieve happens in perfect synchronicity with the universe. I will spend the rest of my life, til my dying days (and even then some) helping, serving and supporting others.

If ANY of this resonates with you and you want to become your healthiest self (and healthy in every single sense of the world - physical health; emotional health; spiritual health and financial health) then I want you to declare this the day that you start your new life and email me at blessthismess@hotmail.com.au and let's DO this. I promise you that I will put every ounce of myself and my heart into helping you achieve your goals.

Blessings and cuddles and excitement and every other positive emotion in between x

*In a completely platonic way of course ... I love you David!

SOMETIMES A GIRL JUST NEEDS TO SAY 'THANKS' CHA KNOW?

Found here

Dear Universe,

Life is good. So dang good. And I thank you for making that happen. I would like to give you the biggest cuddle and express my sincere thanks for the following blessings in my life:
  • Giggles and highschool style infatuation in a relationship that's approaching it's 6th birthday. Seriously, I have butterflies again.
  • My recent discovery of healthy chocolate icecream (my ass and I both thank you).
  • My beautiful friends and their constant love and support. Seriously undeserving of having such angels in my life.
  • Ditto, my family. I miss them but I thank you for keeping us ever so close despite the distance.
  • Connecting with inspiring souls and gaining instantaneous new friends.
  • Helping me this week to define my 'why' and set some BAGs (Big Ass Goals).
  • Isadelights and green tea. And tea in general. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
  • The excitement of planning a very unique style of celebration for my big 2 5.
  • Pushing myself out of my comfort zone and working harder and smarter than ever before.
  • The INCREDIBLE progress of some of my clients in the clinic.
  • And for my job in general. I am so fortunate to be doing what I love day in, day out. AND especially when my private practice allows me to build up my other pursuits on the side!
  • THIS article on female empowerment and supporting the sisterhood. Hells Yes.
  • Books. Upon books. Upon BOOKS that are currently adorning my bedside table.
  • My sister's incredible achievement of landing her first job.
  • Energy and inspiration in abundance.
So that just about sums it up. But in case you couldn't tell, Universe, I'm really freakin' grateful for the incredible blessings that have been bestowed upon me. It keeps getting better. My smile, keeps getting bigger. And, my heart, keeps overflowin'.

Blessings, thanks, praise and complete adoration x

WORKOUT WEDNESDAY

Want to get your heart rate up? Want to get sweaty? Want a fantastic total body workout that you can knock out in the comfort of your own home? Well then look no more baby cakes, I am here share a killer workout that I promise you I will test drive myself this evening (and will share my experiences via the Bless This Mess facebook page - so be sure to 'like' us and keep up with all the latest from BTM headquarters.

Melissa Ambrosini is another one of my current 'girl crushes'. David is starting to get uber suspicious and he is questioning my authentic 'orientation' as I'm forever quoting, googling and showing him interviews of all my favourite wellness leaders (majority of them being freakin' stunning beauties, and a few spunky boys!). Her blog is a beautiful compilation of recipes, interviews, inspiration and sweaty sweaty workout advice. Her body does the talkin' and she is an absolute spot of 'vision' of health and wellness. This morning she shared her personal trainer's workout, that she recently launched at her 'Babes not Bears' workshop in Melbourne, via her instagram. And it is a gooden my friends.

Burpees
Pushups
Squats
Sit Ups
Squat Jumps
10 reps of each; then 8s; then 6s; then 4s; then 2s

Oh I can feel the burn already. Let's lock it in. Let's break with convention and this afternoon put on our Sunday best (your Sunday workout best, of course) and smash this out. I'll be doing this circuit after my afternoon run (weather pending) so I guarantee my BTM update will be courtesy of some very sweaty fingers as I type it.

Blessings from, and wishing you a happy, sweaty, well and healthy workout Wednesday x

WARM FUZZY FRIDAY - Progress not Perfection

One of my newest affirmations and attitudes that I have picked up, and learned to love along the way, is  to stop my old ways of seeking out external sources of happiness, inspiration and love. If I am feeling unhappy, I will do something that makes me happy. If I want to be inspired, I'll try to inspire myself. If I am feeling lonely, I'll take myself out on a date and show myself some love (if no one else is around of course, dating with other people is my first preference...). So when I get my glump on and feel uninspired, dejected and need a big ole kick up the bum to snap out of it - I turned to the best teacher I have available to me 24/7.

So today's post is dedicated to myself and of course to anyone else out there who is/was needing a reminder that life is a journey and that each and every one of us are a work in progress. We don't need to be perfect. We don't need to achieve it all and succeed in every single venture. We don't have to give up when there is a small set back. We give ourselves a cuddle and remind ourselves to strive for balance and continue on our path.
